Face ID, Touch ID, and passkeys

If you have already registered one, sign in quickly with Face ID, Touch ID, or Windows Hello on this device.

That key is server-custodied and passkey-gated, not a wallet: Mithril can decrypt it, so a compromise of this service could sign as you. Your passkey stops anyone else. For sole custody, use your wallet or recovery phrase below — Mithril never sees those keys.

Base's official method: sign the SIWE message as the Base Account (a smart-contract wallet) this passkey owns, verified on the Base chain. No transaction, no gas.

Use an Ethereum wallet

Sign in with an Ethereum wallet (SIWE / EIP-4361)

Connect your wallet and sign a one-time sign-in message.

No transaction, gas fee, or private-key sharing is involved. Both EOA and smart-contract wallets (ERC-1271 / ERC-6492) are supported.

Use DID/CACAO directly (advanced)

Paste the base64 CACAO your key minted.

Mint one with kotoba cacao --aud https://auth.mithril.fund (kotoba-lang/org-chainagnostic-cacao). It authenticates once and is then burned, so a captured CACAO cannot be replayed.

Use a recovery phrase

Sign in with a recovery phrase

Enter your wallet's 12–24-word recovery phrase. The phrase is turned back into a key inside this browser only; all that is sent is an address and a signature.

The account derived is m/44'/60'/0'/0/0 — the same Ethereum account MetaMask and other wallets show as “Account 1”. It is the same identity you get by connecting the wallet.

Separate the words with spaces. Case does not matter.

Use a passphrase (optional)

Only if your wallet was set up with a BIP-39 passphrase (the “25th word”).

A newly created phrase is shown once and is never stored by Mithril. Lose it and this identity can never be entered again.
